The Great New York State Fair Continue Through Labor Day Weekend

Governor Cuomo announced that the Great New York State Fair, which is a 12 day celebration in Syracuse, New York will be continuing through Labor Day Weekend.  There will be exhibits, rides, food, and New York agriculture all valued at $1.  That's right!  Admission is $1 dollar to enjoy free concerts and featured acts through out the weekend.

Governor Cuomo stated, "With this year's Great New York State Fair coming to a close, I encourage everyone to make the trip this Labor Day weekend to see the very best the Empire State has to offer." "New Yorkers and visitors alike will enjoy this long-treasured tradition that encompasses the very best of New York."

Also included for the $1 dollar feature will be the rides on the Wade Shows Midway from 2014.  Unfortunately, fair parking will not be $1 dollar, the cost for parking is $5 dollars.  In addition to the great $1 dollar deals on admission and rides, the New York State Fair will include a special parade and all to take place at 10:30 am at Chevy Court in honor of working men and women who make New York the Empire State.  Prepare for a free concert with pop star Nick Jonas at 6 p.m., and fireworks sponsored by National Grid at dusk to close out the 2015 Fair.

The final day of the Fair will be wrapped up with a spectacular lineup of free concert entertainment. The line up begins with Pop group Fifth Harmony which performs Friday evening. Saturday, soul superstars The Jacksons perform, with classic rock icon Steve Miller and his band on Sunday night. So far, the Fair has featured free shows from Rick Springfield, Melissa Etheridge, Cole Swindell, Joe Nichols, Nate Ruess, Nas, and Jason Derulo. More than 140,000 people attended those shows, with Nas’s concert drawing an estimated 30,750, placing it among the top five all-time draws. With more than 50 musical performances each day, there is music for every taste at the Fair.
New this weekend, the New York State Fair will feature the first-ever “Taste NY” Food Truck Competition. The competition will feature 13 food trucks from across the state serving their tasty and unique entries, using foods primarily grown and produced in New York State, to both fairgoers and food judges on Sunday, September 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. around Chevy Court.

The Demolition Derby returns this weekend the New York State Fair. The New York State Championship Demolition Derby and the All Star Monster Truck Tour are at the Grandstand on Sunday, September 6. The two events are being sold via one ticket for the first time, and a $25 ticket allows entry to both events. The demolition derby begins at 1 p.m., with the monster truck show beginning at 7:30 p.m. There will be a Party in the Pits before the monster truck show, which allows fans to meet drivers and take pictures with the vehicles. A ticket to the Party in the Pits is $5. All tickets include admission to the Fair.

There are plenty of agricultural events this weekend as well – from the opportunity to Milk a Dairy Goat at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the milking parlor to the Rabbit Hopping event on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Poultry Barn.
