Creative Commons New York      Timing News -  According to the latest weather report, strong winds and heavy rain is expected today in the Tri-State area.  Expect a period of strong damaging winds and heavy rain this afternoon into the early evening.  The strongest winds are likely to blow over the Long Island and coastal Southeastern  Connecticut  area.  Possible thunderstorms will embed into heavy rain by the afternoon.   News Alert! A wind advisory is in effect for Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, and much of southern Connecticut from 10am until 7pm today. Hazard & Impacts Expect peak wind hazards to reach 25 to 35 mph with wind gusts up to 45 - 55 mph.  There will be 1 - 2 inches of rainfall that will lead to minor street flooding
